Have you ever searched your mother's or even grandmother's closet? I have and I found many treasures. It's like visiting a vintage store, but it's free and of course you get to learn the story behind every piece.

This time I discovered a double-faced red over-sized coat that my mother bought when she was my age.The burgundy color and the shape of the coat make it unique. It has an 'A' line shape and it can be buttoned up to the neck.

Due to its warm color, it is a statement piece. I prefer to wear it with minimal outfits, so the eye can concentrate on the coat.

It is perfect for autumn, for winter or for spring. A great alternative to your usual simple coat.

A total black outfit is maybe the best solution for a colored coat. I suggest skinny trousers and a turtle-neck. As the coat is over-sized you should probably show your figure with narrower clothes.

Accessories should be minimal but not nonexistent. I didn't pair it with a necklace, instead I added a long scarf, black and white with an African-bohemian pattern.

It certainly gives color and sophistication to the outfit.

What about jewelry ? I say keep it simple.

I added my favorite watch that goes perfectly with the color of the coat and a pair of silver circular earrings.

The classier, the better!

My mum was probably very stylish backin the day ! I bet yours was too.

Don't forget that fashion comes and goes in circles and some classic pieces never die. Do your research and you may find your own treasures.
